The main features of the Lancer Evolution V are :
Performance :
The Evolution V is fitted with a 2.0 liter DOHC turbocharged 4G63 engine that produces maximum output of 280 horsepower and torque of 38.0kg-m by using an upgraded intercooler, enlarged nozzle area in the twin-scroll turbocharger, lighter pistons, and upgraded radiator and oil cooler.
The Evolution V adopts a close-ratio gearbox which, together with a stiffer linkage and shorter shift lever, realizes more direct and positive operation.
Longer lower arms in the front and changed to the arm attachment points in the rear suspension widened the tread 40mm at the front and 35mm at the rear over Evolution IV. This, together with stiffer toe and camber resulting from the use of inverted strut at the front, results in improved cornering stability.
The Evolution V adopts Brembo 17 inches 4-pot caliper brakes at the front and 16 inches 2-pot caliper brakes at the rear, and adopts 225/45ZR17 tires.
The Evolution V achieves optimal torque distribution to all four wheels by combining a Helical LSD in the front transaxle with AYC (Active Yaw Control) system that generates a stabilizing yaw moment by creating a torque differential in the right and left wheels.
Exterior & Interior :
The Evolution V adopts redesigned aeroparts, including a aluminum engine hood, wide fenders, front and rear bumpers, as well as front, side and rear air-dams.
Evolution V is equipped with Recaro bucket seats, a MOMO leather wrapped steering wheel, a leather wrapped shift knob, SRS airbags for driver and front passenger, anti-lock braking, and OZ 17 inches alloy wheels.
RS Evolution V :
Available by order is the RS Evolution 5 competition version for entry in motor sports events. This model features a lightweight body.
