BC5 Subaru Legacy RS type RA
In November 1989, Subaru Legacy RS type RA was launched. Legacy RS type
RA is the first car of STI, and RA includes the meaning of gRECORD ATTEMPTh.
The feature of Legacy RS type RA is a Handcrafted RA Tuning EJ20 engine. It includes balancing of crankshaft,
flywheel and clutch cover, and retouching cylinder head and manifold. And it adopted forged pistons
and high pressure type connection rod bearings. Also it comes with variable quick power steering system (straight 15 / maximum steering 13).
In 1990, Subaru Legacy RS type RA adopted close-ratio transmission
Simplification : Removed power window, center door lock, power antenna,
rear wiper, rear spoiler (option), under spoiler, exhaust tip, tire chain,
key light, auto door mirrors, radio, trunk mat, and undercoating.
Changed to blue glass, black door mirrors, lever type air control switch,
mats, roof trim, sun visors.
May 1990 B type : Equipped center door lock, power window (option), close-ration
transmission, etc.
May 1991 C type : Face lift, 16bid ECU, etc.
June 1992 D type : Abolished taillights of trunk garnish.
